A Handy Myrtle Beach Cycling Guide

Photo of a Small Family on a Myrtle Beach Cycling Expedition.South Carolina’s sunny Grand Strand spans approximately 60 miles from uninhabited Winyah Bay to the North Carolina border. As you can imagine, there are dozens of ways to explore this biodiverse topography, from boating to hiking and kayaking. However, the preferred method of recreation for so many is a good, old-fashioned Myrtle Beach cycling expedition at a peaceful state park, near the bustling boardwalk, or along dazzling Ocean Boulevard. Thus, the folks here at North Shore Oceanfront Hotel compiled a handy Myrtle Beach cycling guide, complete with eight potential recreational hot spots. If you are also looking to add more adventure to your vacation be sure to visit all of the Attractions Myrtle Beach has to offer!

An 8-Stop Myrtle Beach Cycling Guide

Photo of a Couple on a Myrtle Beach Cycling Journey on the Waccamaw Neck Bikeway.Over the decades, Myrtle Beach has evolved into a cycler’s haven, thanks to massive enhancements in bicycle-friendly infrastructure, such as spacious lanes, newly-paved city parks, and East Coast Greenway projects. This eight-stop Myrtle Beach cycling guide covers a lot of ground while simultaneously featuring many of the Grand Strand’s most beloved natural attractions. It’s important to note that North Shore Oceanfront Hotel is a stone’s throw from Ocean Boulevard, home to the city’s longest bicycle lane.

Need a bike? Surf City Surf Shop is one mile southwest of the hotel, and their 24-hour bicycle rentals start at only $15.

  1. The East Coast Greenway runs from the Canadian border down to Key West, Florida. And the Grand Strand is home to over 21 miles of protected, well-marked Greenway, including stretches on Kings Highway, the Waccamaw Neck Bikeway (as noted below), and Harrelson Boulevard.
  2. Waccamaw Neck’s 18.6-mile Bikeway stretches from Garden City to seaside Pawley’s Island, arguably the most scenic slice of South Carolina.
  3. Huntington Beach State Park itself is one of the most-frequented segments of “the Neck.”
  4. Bicycling along The Market Common’s two-mile paved trail is always an enticing mid-day activity, especially when combined with some shopping and fine dining.
  5. The Conway Riverwalk hugs the peaceful Waccamaw River. Please keep in mind that this is a multi-purpose pathway that sees a healthy amount of foot traffic.
  6. The Horry County Bike & Run Park, known to locals as “The Hulk,” is the region’s best mountain biking destination. It features 72 acres of berms, bunny hops, and drops.
  7. Little River’s Vereen Memorial Historical Gardens boasts 114 acres of bike-friendly landscape, although the boardwalk is only accessible via foot traffic.
  8. The aforementioned Ocean Boulevard juts through the heart of Myrtle Beach, where countless beaches, top-rated attractions, and swaying palms meld.
