Sunny Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, is lined with over a dozen Starbucks’ and Dunkin’s for those aching for an early-morning jolt. But it has never been more critical than it is today to support local businesses, including the many down-to-earth coffee shops in Myrtle Beach. While travelers aren’t exactly lining up to warm their hands with a steaming cup of joe during the summer months, most of us need a roasty pick-me-up the morning after a full day of beach fun, shopping, and live entertainment in one of the world’s foremost family destinations. Thus, the folks here at North Shore Oceanfront Hotel compiled three of our favorite coffee shops in Myrtle Beach that range from a grungy live music venue to a hip, sleek java bar.
The Best Coffee Shops in Myrtle Beach
It’s not easy whittling an extensive list of coffee shops in Myrtle Beach down to three selections. That being said, this list accurately reflects the espresso scene here in our sandy paradise. Before we dive in, it’s worth noting that all of our rooms come equipped with a Keurig coffeemaker. However, we fully understand that a short jaunt to a local staple certainly does the soul good and sustains our local economy.
Fresh Brewed Coffee House
There’s certainly nothing glamorous about the generically-named Fresh Brewed Coffee House on Broadway Street. The exterior is rather uninviting and dingy. However, this historic live music venue cares more about service and flavorful beverages than aesthetics. Upon arrival, you’ll notice the dated checkered floor, exposed brick, and a sign that reads “Coffee Bar, Used Books.” This no-frills, long-standing coffeehouse transforms into a tiny rock hall after dark. But, well before that, locals step into this nostalgic space for a delicious caramel macchiato, London fog, or cafe latte.
Hi-Fi Coffee Bar
Hi-Fi Coffee Bar is one of the newest additions to the local java scene. It’s a sleek, modernized joint with a healthy display of fresh-baked goods, such as muffins and cookies. There’s rock-and-roll memorabilia spattered across the space, including vinyl from Van Halen and REO Speedwagon. But the primary reason that Hi-Fi consistently ranks among the best coffee shops in Myrtle Beach is their expansive menu of caffeinated beverages. We’re partial to the white mocha, chai tea, and caramel latte frappé. This place will definitely provide a jolt during your beach getaway!
Boardwalk Coffee House
Admittedly, there are “better” coffee shops in Myrtle Beach. But Boardwalk Coffee House is an institution. And, as its name suggests, it’s located right along the beach. While Boardwalk is mainly beloved for its savory breakfast concoctions, we just happen to have an adoration for those ice-cold beach frappés. A lot of travelers stop in for a frappé after a sunrise jog or in the early-morning hours in an effort to obtain a prime spot on the beach. Beachgoers often discover this long-standing establishment when searching for a beach cafe “near me.”
